ADOPTED 8/20/07

UPDATE

8/20/07 Tucker’s Foster Family Is Going To Adopt Him!!

THIS IS A NOTE FROM TUCKERS FOSTER FAMILY

Tucker is a big, handsome, mellow Weim, approximately 2 years old.

He is great with children and other dogs.

He had no trouble fitting into our 3-dog household and

has not tried to intimidate despite his obvious size/strength advantage.

We have 3 flighted birds that are sometimes loose in the house

and he does not approach or bother them.

We don’t have a cat, but he has seen the next-door neighbor’s cat several

times when he was off the leash and was pretty uninterested.

Tucker has not chewed anything in our house.

Overall I would say that Tucker is extremely trustworthy except for a bit of counter-surfing (we had a carne asada incident when he was first here it was my fault!).

Tucker is very people-oriented.  He loves to be touched and petted, likes to rest on the couch with his head in your lap, will sleep in the bed every night if you let him.

He is athletic and loves to hike and exercise with our other Weim, Muffin.

He is not much for catching a ball or fetching, but if Muffin chases a ball,

stick or rabbit he will chase Muffin while she does it!

Tucker is completely house-trained and knows how to sit and lay down –

we are working on stay.

Tucker has developed a new skill since his arrival in our household swimming.

He likes to get in the pool and is an impressive diver.

We’ve noticed that swimming brings out his protective instincts too

when our 9-year-old or I swim in the deep end he runs around, whines

and tries to encourage us to come to the side or the shallow end.

He has no problem with my husband swimming anywhere kind of weird, but cute.

Tucker seems to like a household where there is a lot going on.

I don’t know if he would be happy as an only dog or if he were left alone

for long periods of time.  He is adjusting well to his new foster

home/family and we love him.  He is an awesome dog.

Tucker was picked up from Lied Animal Shelter on 2/9/07.

Lied Animal Shelter called us at 10pm 2/8/07.

They asked us to pick up all the weims at Lied by 730am 2/9/07 or they would be euthanized.  They said that we should know that any weims that we pick up could or could not be sick.

I told her we would be there the next morning to pick all the weims up.

We picked up SAGE & TUCKER.

The pictures below are of TUCKER on Friday 2/9/07.

We took her originally at Centennial Hills Animal Hospital.

We were very lucky and TUCKER did not have Distemper like SAGE.

TUCKER was able to go to a foster family on 2/10/07.

TUCKER has some ear problems but he was just neutered on 3/30/07,

got a deep ear cleaning, and his teeth cleaned.

He seems to be doing fine except he needs a permanent home were someone

will love him and not drop him off at the shelter because they didn’t want him anymore.

We do not understand we someone dropped him off at Lied Animal Shelter.

He is to nice a dog.  We think someone dropped him off at the shelter

because they could not afford meds or vet care.

He is too sweet to give him up for any other reason.

Here is a note from his Foster Family and

some recent pictures of TUCKER from 3/30/07.

Tucker was neutered this week.  He is doing really well.  He is sleeping on the Couch.

Ate his dinner and took his meds and seems ok.

The vet found some debris in his ear canal and wants to check him in a couple

weeks once his meds are done to see if we got it all.  I so adore Dr. Brooks at Tropicana.  They are completely connected to the ongoing wellness of the

animals they treats… I am seriously thinking of changing vets.

Anyhow - I will report back in a couple days - I enjoy caring for him

and nurturing him...he is sooo sweet
