ADOPTED 8/22/07

Leila needs an adoptive home ASAP.

She currently has a Foster family.  The following is an update from her foster family:

Leila is a VERY SWEET natured girl.  She is already bonding with my sister-in-law that is here visiting from California (no she can't keep her).  No accidents in the house, she was very friendly and a little timid with my Weim, but he was a jerk and wanted nothing to do with her, growling etc.  She immediately adopted a rawhide bone and a couple of furry squeaky toys, checked the house out on her own, drank a gallon of water, laid on the big dog bed pillow, made no attempt to get on the furniture.  She IS NOT food aggressive with people and will allow you to put your hand in her bowl and take the rawhide chew from her (was this way with all three of us).  She also likes you to hold her rawhide chew while she gnaws on it (occasionally).  She prefers the knotted rawhide chews to the straight sticks, and loves to play tug of war.  She knows how to sit on command and to "shake hands."  She walks on a leash better than my dog, but doesn't know how to heal.  She doesn't know how to use a doggie door, but we are getting her used to it (she will go out with coaxing and a treat), but won't go thru otherwise at this point.

She stayed by herself on her own doggie bed in the "office" that also has finch birds and didn't bother them at all.  She wants in the house, but is not barking.  She is VERY alert to any movement her people make and is VERY aware of her surroundings and will look you right in the eye (a trait I like in a dog personally).  I wouldn't mind keeping her if she and Bacchus could get along, but have no plans to do so at this time.  That's all for now!

Spay/Neutered?   Leila is already spayed, an owner turn in.... We can't figure out why as she is a GREAT dog!

Good w/Kids?   Don't have any kids, but she is very gentle and sweet natured, but boisterous and plays hard, so would suggest 9-10yrs or over kids as she can unseat me playing tug of war!  She has greeted all strange guests with ease and friendliness that have come to the house.

Good w/Other Dogs?  YES...loves to play tug or war and fetch....has tendencies to be able to catch mid-air so would take to Freezbies really well.  Would not hesitate to take her around other dogs at the dog park. She would be happiest in a household that has another large dog for her to play with.

Good w/cats?  Don't know...But she ignores the BIRDS in their cage.

PERFECTLY potty trained...not one accident...now knows how to use the doggie door with ease! Very strong and would benefit from leash/heal training as she loves to go on walks.
